The Rossi are based in Rostrevor, Co Down and come from the village and surrounding towns. We like to get out on the roads and mountains in the Mournes. The group started in 2013, when a few friends decided to reclaim their youth and got out on the mountains to try to shed a few pounds and have some craic doing it.
It quickly spiralled and a few more friends tried it out and the group has grown year on year. We focus on trying to find a balance between enjoying the sport and gaining a good level of fitness in the process. In 2015 we carried out two cycling initiatives, when we planned and executed a Sponsored cycle across Ireland, coast to coast, and two of the Rossi also competed and won the two person category of the illustrious Race Around Ireland, and broke the record in the process. That year, the Rossi raised in excess of £22,000 for a local charity.
We regularly take part in local sportives and races to test ourselves and give ourselves targets in our training. We cycle at least twice during the week and at least once at the weekend. We welcome anyone to get in touch and come out for a spin anytime. Cycling is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK & ireland at the minute. So if you ever wanted to give it a try and don’t want to go it alone, give us a shout.
